CONSULTANCY
As a partner in AIMS Judi has been consulting to individual graziers, grazier groups and organisations in all aspects of the agro-ecosystem for over 20 years.  The driving philosophy is to utilise livestock and pastures to greatest effect to gain maximum benefit from those freely available resources – sunlight, rainfall and the vast populations of soil biota present in your soil.

Grazing livestock, managed appropriately can regenerate land, increase pasture growth, improve soil health and enhance biodiversity.   The key principles are management of residual herbage mass and controlling utilisation.  The primary method is controlling the movement of livestock across the land.

In addition to local consultancies in the Northern Slopes and Tablelands, Northern Rivers and Hunter regions of NSW, Judi has worked in Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania and the Northern Territory as well as India and the USA.

Judi provides advice on:
  • how to plan and control the movement of livestock to increase production and enhance land condition
  • designing paddock layouts to optimise utilisation of land and pasture
  • pasture assessment and feed budgeting to match stocking rate to available herbage mass
  • drought management strategies
  • supplementary feeding of stock to optimise pasture utilisation
  • pasture species identification and management
  • soil health assessment, considering the biological and physical aspects or limitations of soil and how best to address these
  • soil test interpretation, advice on addressing deficiencies or excesses and soil amendment programs to enhance pasture production.
For anyone considering purchasing rural property Judi can advise on potential land use and the productive potential of grazing land in a range of regions.
