The process of regenerating ‘Glen Orton’ began with the introduction of 50 cows in the Autumn of 2011.  These girls are the champions of The GO.  They started their progression through the vast amount of Coolatai grass through the winter of 2011 and it has taken four years to work the bulk of that material into the soil through their digestion (super hard work) and the effects of trampling (plain hard work).

Restoring the energy and vitality of the land is key to improving productivity and the initial source of that energy is the cattle.  Moving constantly across the land paddocks, or subdivisions, are grazed on average 2-3 times each year and usually not more than 15-20 days in total each year.  That means for more than 95% of each year areas are not exposed to livestock grazing.  During that time all other critters that depend on the grasslands and the grasslands depend on can go about their business building health and resilience in the soil and pasture.
