SOIL HEALTH CARD
The soil health card developed by Soilcare for the Northern Rivers region lists 10 tests for you to rate your own soils.  The tests are applicable for all soils in all regions.  By testing regularly and keeping the cards, you can build up a record of your soil health, and understand the effect of management practices on soil health.  To download the Soil Health Cards visit the SoilCare website.

FIGTREES ORGANIC FARMS

The team from Figtrees, Glenn and Henry, present tools to improve soil health with grazing management and restore the function of ecosystem processes.

This video below was filmed at the May 14, 2014 at the SoilCare workshop, 'Managing Soil for Quality Crops'.  The presentation is by Graham Lancaster, Manager of Environmental Analysis Lab (EAL).  Graham moved from Environmental Science into Analytical Chemistry in the early 1990's, setting up EAL, Environmental Analysis Lab, in Southern Cross University, Lismore, NSW, Australia.
In the mid 90's EAL moved into specialized agricultural analysis primarily related to organic and biological farming. Soil, leaf & compost analysis is designed to enhance soil management and encourage reduced & targeted application of inorganic fertilisers.
In this presentation Graham covers the benefits of monitoring soil, interpreting soil analysis results, nutrient budgeting and more.
